S.C. Reznikoff, CSI, is professor of interior architecture in the Department of Design, College of Architecture and Environmental Design at Arizona State University, Tempe, and a national expert on topics of flammability and life safety in interior design. I had to use this book for one of my first Interior Design classes. It's an awesome book that I've used through out all my other classes in the Interior Design program I've signed up for. There is just one flaw. This book does not have a Kindle Edition. This book needs to be a Kindle book because it is a great reference book that a designer could keep on their phone and call up anytime.I would pay for the Kindle version of this book.

My architectural professors' instructed us to begin building a library of books and materials because we are going to need them later. You can't find this stuff or its quality on the internet. This book rocks! Designing will be a breeze now. I also have the "Architectural Graphics Standards-Student Edition" manual (also purchased through Amazon.com....shine on, Amazon), and they both are exactly what I needed. But, this only the beginning. Thanks guys and gals, and keep shining on me.

Tricia Owens shocked me with this book. It is original and very unique. I can’t think of anything similar. It also lured me in and kept me emotionally hostage the entire time. The author really knows how to elicit strong feelings because my heart felt like it was being torn apart during this read.The character development was intense. I felt for the two main characters so much, to the point I wish I could have walked right into the pages. That is the sign of an excellent book. There was definitely some amazing chemistry as well. The world building was eerily vivid.This is not a story that is easy to describe. However, I can say it is one that is powerful. It kept me so engaged I didn’t even realize time slipped away until I got to the end. Don’t go into the book expecting ordinary. It’s way more than that.5 stars for a hauntingly emotive read.

The power dynamics of the pairings in her works are always beautifully written, which is a factor that draws me to them over others. Not only does Ms Owens understand the complexities of trust involved in genuine BDSM relationships, but her grasp of the struggles inherent in even severe mental disorders such as PTSD give even this standalone novel a compelling story that is both relative and immersive. The formulation of the pair's bond out of exploration of homosexual BDSM between a fixed partner and one in denial all in the pursuit of healing each other through their traumatic experiences is both wrenching as much as inspiring. The title, while symbolic of both men's state of mind and the basis of their union, offers an underlying message of hope at the end that as damaged as we may be, we still have a chance for happiness with someone. For those readers avidly devouring Ms Owens' Sin City series or lovers of accurately conveyed BDSM relationships, I highly recommend adding this standalone to your library. As always, the synopsis pulls the reader in and her skill in the story itself does not disappoint.

When his partner is killed, Jack needs to get away. Crushed under the guilt that it was his fault. He lands in a casino in the middle of nowhere, ran by a beautiful enigmatic man. Brant sees behind Jack’s facade to the hurting,damaged man inside. Through a series of encounters Jack learns to let his demons go, possibly releasing Brant’s at the same time.This book was engrossing, the characters very charismatic. Their encounters graphic, without being to far over the top. The men meshed very well and were likable even tho they were kind of grouchy and closed off. Watching them open up to each other was sweet.I really wish the secrets of the casino and the forest had been delved into further. They were just kind dropped after a few intriguing hints.

I've read several other stories by this author but this is by far my favorite. It's an excellent book about two people trying to heal and the story has a bit of a paranormal aspect. The book is a stand-alone with no cliffhanger which makes me happy. I dislike serials.

m/mDamaged by Tricia Owens is the tale of two damaged men finding redemption in each others arms. This book tore me up as I hurt for them each. This book will take you to some very dark places but it does have a happy ending.

I have mixed feelings about this book. It could have been so much better if it had gone in a different direction.After a bust gone wrong that kills his partner, Jack heads off to an Indian Casino to wait out his suspension while they investigate. He is drawn to the manager of the casino, Taylor (who is constantly referred to by his last name Brandt) even though he only plans to gamble, sleep, and drink.I couldn't quite figure out if Jack was gay and suppressed it or was just in the closet or is bi or ?? But this is his first experience with a man. And, it is definitely an experience.Taylor, or Brandt, is gay and has had some bad relationships. Of course both of those were with cops so he is wary. Both of them took BDSM way too far to the point that he almost died. You'd think after the first he would have learned his lesson. He also mentions that he was mostly trying BDSM out. Uh, that is kind of extreme. And if the first time left you almost dead, why try again?So Damaged these guys definitely are. But they way they come together is not healthy at all. Jack uses Brandt to punish himself. Brandt uses Jack to punish his former Doms. Honestly, it is books like this that give BDSM a bad name. I love broken characters and watching them find love and redemption. But this was not the way to do it. I didn't feel a connection between them at all. More like they were each objects to each other. A ways to a means.There was a bit of a sub plot about Native American lore and the forest surrounding the casino and the inordinate amount of people who seem to commit suicide there. It was mentioned here and there and, again, it could have made a really strong impact at one point but it was kind of just tossed off.And the pretty rainbow bow at the end was a bit too much after the darkness of the book. I would give this a pass.

This is an author I usually love reading but this book just didn't quite make it for me.The characters had little to no chemistry, the story didn't flow, there was no discussion with the BDSM elements even though it was the characters first time together and I didn't get the whole "forest" thing. I felt like it was thinking of going paranormal but it just didn't happen.Not a horrible story, just not a great story either.

It was a powerful account of an extraordinary journey to the afterlife and back! For full disclosure, I will add I have experienced out-of-body phenomenon, and for this reason, I attended the recent 2014 Afterlife Conference (my first ever foray into that world). I went specifically to hear Dr. Alexander speak about his experience. It was one of the most honest and compelling disclosures I've had the pleasure of hearing in recent years. It is quite clear that he experienced The Light of Heaven because it shines through him now.

I went through a crisis in the 1980s, when no religious writings had any meaning for me. A friend suggested reading the early Desert Fathers and Jakob Boehme. I went on to read St John of the Cross, Teresa of Avila, and others. Then I discovered Thomas Merton. I called him "the Monarch/Cliff notes to the early Desert Fathers."This second book by Dr. Alexander is as illuminating as those other works and deserves a place on my bookshelf beside them.

I have purchased this book for more than 10 people and will continue to share it with everyone who come into contact with. This book is so incredible that I can listen to it over and over again! A great message for sure! I listened to the first book "Proof of Heaven" by Eben Alexander and was so blown away by his experience as well as his ability to get his message across....this second book Map of Heaven is EVEN BETTER!! This is the book I use to introduce to everyone I share with. Then if they wish they can purchase the first one....it does not ruin anything to read this first....he is amazing!!

This book, although narrating a recent experience by a renowned physician and scholar, is also a restatement of ancient narratives from the eons of humanity's presence on Earth even before history existed. The tale of other realms from hence we all come from and where we all will return.Those stories tell of certain beings that reside in all realms at the same time and travel back and forth, up and down or wherever is here or there and are able to "tell" if that is possible in words, the stories of whence and here to all other beings who are stuck in just one place. In Jewish apocrypha these beings are called sar Happanim, angels of the Presence.Eben Alexander is but one of those so called sar Happanim who without ticket, immersed themselves on some of those immense journeys. A modern Enoch. A traveller much to our luck, for he is able to put his best intended meaning to accounts that no one less than who he is can do it.Take the travel to this unknown unknown places. Places that we would never know exist if for the joy of reading one of the best accounts of an impossible travel by an improbable witness's.

This book is not a recap of his previous book but rather a compilation of both historical and contemporary accounts of the things those who experience the next life can teach us. It's not a "physical" map of heaven; rather it delves into understandings that will help us all better navigate this life as we all proceed towards the next. Trying to organizing those "lessons," (or "gifts," as he calls them), which are overwhelming and essentially non-verbal when received, is a major accomplishment, and very well done here. Even if you are a skeptic as to the experience itself (I'm not a skeptic), the insights in this book are well worth your time and money.

I am so glad the ordered and disciplined mind of Eben A wrote this book! I have studied all this and more but I grow weary when I have to start at the beginning with beginner seekers of self knowledge? bless their happy making souls, I now have an "in a nutshell " book to point to that we are all connected throughout time space Etc and everything we become aware of enlivens and enriches ourselves and the whole ! I also loved being reacquainted with Plato. Well done Sir! Love and light

The younger sister, the dutiful daughter and the one always seeking to make peace in her family, Brianna is looking forward to a quieter winter with only one scheduled guest. Grayson Thane is a famous mystery writer who has come to Ireland seeking peace and quiet and inspiration for his next novel. Gray enjoys his gypsy life traveling from place to place working on his writing. Attracted to Brianna, he wants her but knows that things will end and he will move on.OPINION: This is my favorite book in the series because I loved both the hero and the heroine in this book from the start.Brianna is the peacemaker in the family. She has always tried to smooth over the difficulties in her family and yet this book shows how she has been effected by the discord between her parents and the resulting familial difficulties. Despite or perhaps because of this, Brianna has sought to make a peaceful domestic atmosphere that she has translated into her small business of her inn. I loved how Brianna uses the domestic arts to make a "home" for travelers. She is the "ice" in the story because of her place in her family and also because of her quiet personality. This book reveals secrets in her past which result her re-evaluating her life. Into that disruption comes Gray who pushes Brianna from her safe space.Gray is a man who is so scarred by his past that he has built a great life, but one of a nomad with few personal connections. He sees this as a kind of freedom, but he is challenged by Brianna and the town where she lives. A man who insists that he will not stay when he starts an affair might seem callous, but Gray is so open and honest and caring that I understood him as a character rather than thinking he was a jerk. This book also delves deep into the writing process (something the author certainly understands) and I loved the depictions of how Gray works as an artist.When I think of this series, I always think about the characters sense of place in Ireland and also how they all connect to the artistic process. There is such an expansive understanding of artistry in this book. Gray is the obvious artist because of his writing, but Brianna is an artist in her own right as she cooks and knits and gardens. The appreciation for these arts is something that I appreciate in this book because such great talent is something that is often overlooked.This book has a small subplot of mystery which fits the story because of Gray's profession, but this book is really focused on the relationship between Brianna and Gray. The subplots only serve the purpose of the romance which is exactly how I like my romance books.WORTH MENTIONING: Readers of the first book in the series will get a nice update on Maggie and Rogan.CONNECTED BOOKS: BORN IN ICE is the second book in the Born in Trilogy. While the romance here is self-contained and thus can be read as a standalone, this series is meant to be read together as there are overlaps in characters and an overarching storyline.STAR RATING: I give this book 5 stars.

This is such a great book, that I look forward to going back and reading these stories again like some that I already have, and I am impatient to read the rest of Nora Roberts' stories right now. Hot, Hot, Hot, love scenes, a well written, creative and intriguing story about family plus inventive, vivid characters, all on top of seriously wonderful love and romance. Each story is about one key person, usual in a family, or close group of friends, they are linked through intricate, messy links and it's almost like a movie you get the privilege of witnessing about these people's powerful, emotional, and often times painful journey towards falling in love. Roberts is one of my most favorite author's, and she doesn't disappoint in this series. Her unique style and classy, yet moving love scenes, paint a beautiful picture that leaves a person longing for something similar for themselves. All of that is combined into this fantastic series and make this book a "must-have"!!!! I didn't want to set it down....seriously!! Lol I was nodding off over my book on several different occasions. Worth the price and more to have a Nora Roberts book in your library collection!!!!!!

Don't get me wrong it's a decent book, but Grayson just didn't make sense and Brie was way too kind. It's basically about a young woman losing her virginity. After they have sex she immediately says she loves him (which I get) - over and over again so there shouldn't be a surprise that she did. SO he breaks up with her because she is "too icy." Huh?! Until then, he has never said it back after she said told him a gazillion times. Grayson then turns it around that it's her fault he's leaving. I started to like him early in the book but it just went downhill.

Of every book, of every series, that Nora has written, this is my most favorite. My second favorite is the Chesapeake Bay series.The Born In trilogy was written with so much heart! I wish it were real and that I could travel to Ireland and become part of the family!Nora, please write another book so we can join this family again and see how the babies have grown and meet the new babies I'm sure have come. I would love to see Maeve happier. And perhaps she could sing for us.Maybe a Christmas novella? That would be brilliant!Anyway, these are the books that turned my daughter into an avid reader! Thank you for that.

I find that sometimes they can be predictable as far as you know there's going to be a romance, especially with the trilogies - usually you're introduced to three women and three men. But for me, the joy is in seeing the story and characters develop. The scenes are described in such detail you feel as though you're there experiencing yourself what is happening on the page. The characters' personalities and emotions are so real, you feel as if you know them personally and you're hoping things work out for them -- or in some cases, hoping it doesn't. I read and re-read many of Nora's books because I enjoy getting lost in the story, much as I will watch a favorite movie over and over again. Reading her books is like being transported to another time and place.
