Sara writes from her soul. This book delves deep into furthest corner of the characters mind and reveals their tormented past. In the detailed indepth way that Sara describes every little thing energizes your senses and transports you within the moments.Every nuance,every smell, color, texture is so detailed it is amazing. I LOVE the Greek Village Series and am amazed that Sara regularly writes these books which are so intricately detailed. Sara Alexi is an incredibly gifted writer that transports you into the village. Each story is laced with compassion and empathy within the characters and it makes you think and realize how much you personally have to be grateful for and makes you strive to appreciate every little thing more. I wish there were 10 stars, these books are treasures. Thank You Sara Alexi!
I was again transported to my favorite Greek village with its familiar characters, beautifully brought to life by Sara Alexi. Irini experiences a full range of emotions as she is kidnapped by a pirate. This experience offers Irini an opportunity to review the horrors in her life, unjudged by her captor. The story will keep you riveted to the pages until the surprising end. A beautiful tale by an author gifted by God with a marvelous talent. Thank you, Sara, for another look into the heart of the village.
Again, Sara envelopes us in a tale that helps us understand her wonderfully crafted characters fully and in color! Like a characaturist, she is able to give us a full description in the fewest words, that brings her characters to life as if they are sitting across the table from you. This book is a must read and no matter how slowly you want to savor, very quickly you are caught up in the story and at the end!
Life is complicated, interesting and definitely deeply dimensional as experienced in "The Greek Village. . . stories." I love reading Sara's books and this one was no exception, although, to me, it felt a little short. The feelings generated from the story cling to the mind, long after reading, giving thought and mental discourse . . . In this story, a young women has an unexpected adventure which allows her to process some of the more disturbing details of her life. . . . and then her life moves on, framed a little differently, and exposed in a . . . perhaps, more tender light. The story of humanity is about how our souls touch other human souls as we traverse the road of our life . . . and how looking out for those connections and finding meaning in them . . . is the reason for our existence . . . 'Tis a beautiful vision . . to see the bright blue waters, around Greece, curl at the base of our floating adventure, and the sun warms our ethereal bodies while we learn a little more from the heart of humanity . . and we add another piece to the puzzle of life.
I can't remember the last book that touched me as much as this one.Some writers entertain, some teach, some amuse, some merely pass the time, etc., and some make you think. And Sara Alexi makes you think. You'll also cry and smile. You'll re-read passages that are especially meaningful and the images will remain with you (oh, making eye contact with that dolphin!). You'll be slow to move on to the next book, wanting to spend more time with the characters and what they reveal. For me, "Watching the Wind Blow" is a 'reminder' book. Maybe I'll slow down and smell the roses; maybe I'll re-evaluate what I'm doing with my life, maybe I'll remember what's important; maybe I'll be just who I really am; maybe I'll make a difference in someone's life; maybe I'll listen.
I loved this book, as I loved all of the Greek Village books. Sara Alexi has her own collection folder on my Kindles. I am fascinated by the way of life in that part of Greece, the ways that the people find to remain happy, involved in life and holding on to many customs of the past.I was never interested in Greece (no insult to the country intended) till I read Ms Alexi's wonderful stories.Since I will never get to Greece, I can live there while reading the books.I've read the first 7 two times..and expect to read them many more times.My sincere congratulations and thanks to a superb story teller.
As you read through the Greek Village stories, you come to feel as if you know these characters. Reading Watching the Wind Blow not only gives you more information about and draws you closer to Rini, but also challenges you to look beyond the surface and risk reaching out to others.As usual, the characters are so well developed that they seem like old friends, and the story-telling draws you in, making it difficult to step away, even for a moment. Take a break from every day life and curl up with Watching the Wind Blow, and then think about who in your life could benefit from a gift of your time and willingness to listen to their story...to their heart.
Sara Alexi's Greek Village Series "takes you there" and you form "relationships" with her characters! You don't have to read them in order, but there are a few things that will play out differently if you do not with a couple of the books. Sara's writing is so descriptive - while not being overly wordy - you'll feel like you are really there! These are really wonderful reads with relate-able issues!You should really read them all, starting with The Illegal Gardener. I first read this on my Kindle, as it was offered as a freebie, and I loved it! I have now bought all of Sara's books (which are only offered in paperback) and they now reside on my bookshelves. Only my favorites go there! ;)
