By focusing on the organizational impact of digital, Westerman, Bonnet and McAfee, create a simple, clear and compelling framework for categorizing companies and their attitudes toward digital technology.Characterizing an entire company as either a Beginner, Conservative, Fashionista or Digital Master provides an executive short hand that appears highly effective on the surface, but quickly leads one to ask, ok but what do I do? The advices provided in the book borders not the self evident, i.e.: beginners are slow to adapt and have the basic digital capabilities while fashionistas are buying every new digital bauble.That is one of the points holding this book back from a five star review, is that it presumes a monolytic attitude toward digital in order to simplify its messages. This treatment is appropriate for a book intended to drive client conversations for a consulting company.The books chapters encompass the range of organizational and leadership topics related to digital transformation. The section titles reflect this:Part 1 - building digital capabilities covers the customer experience, their link to core operations (aka legacy) and the business model.Part 2 -- focuses internally on the vision, organizational engagement, governance and technology leadership.Part 3 -- concentrates on digital transformation from strategic framing through mobilization and sustaining a change program.Taken at this level, the book is rather complete in its topical treatment but the book treats each of these topics somewhat superficially. It was revolutionary when these materials first came out almost two years ago. The clarity of the frameworks also tends toward clear but overly simply advice and actions. People new to digital can easily be lulled into a false sense of security or alarm as it seems so much like what has come before or that we all must become digital masters tomorrow. Knowing that difference and the nuance it contains is the reason for the length of this review. By focusing on the organization, Westerman, Bonnet and McAfee have created something very accessible, but they have also accepted some limitations on explaining the reality of digital transformation.

The building blocks of vision, engagement, governance and technology leadership hang together well in working through the book.The authors also run an on-line MIT learning course focus on the Internet of Things, which applies this framework. For those wishing an applied/structured approach in applying the book, this is recommended. This also introduced some updated case studies over the 2014 edition.My own focus is supporting public sector digital transformations in developing countries. While the book does not directly speak to these, the focus on the book on larger corporations is helpful, especially give the challenges of silos and inertia seem amplified there!

This is an excellent guidebook for business leaders who want to embrace the possibilities of emerging digital technologies and need help getting started, making sure things remain on track for success, and want to sustain the momentum they have created. Both organizational leadership ability and mastery of IT are essential ingredients. Neither alone is sufficient on its own to become a "digital master". A transformative vision of one's business using the potential for new waves of IT and consensus amongst the team at the top (including the person appointed to lead the technology dimension) are the starting point according to the authors. The authors tackle the potential of new digital technologies to transform the customer experience, operations, and enable new lines of business (aka business models in their terminology ). A good read and useful guide for both technical leaders and the business executives they need to partner with. Highly recommended.

Great book on digital transformation. Most books on the topic spend their time on the social aspects of the transformation. Leading Digital covers the main aspects: customer engagement, operational efficiency, and business model. In analyzing firms successful in their transformation, the authors specifically focussed on companies based outside the Valley with revenues > $400M. These firms had successful, long-term businesses that they need transition. Well researched with many insights.

The best book about digital transformation on my opinion I read so far. George Westerman give easy to understand description what need to be done in terms of digital and leadership capabilities, but also how to be done - sort of playbook. Valuable information if you are manager that is responsible or just part of digital transformation in your company. It may also be helpful to business consultants because leads you through transformation journey, stating all the threats you can expect on the way. Highly recommended!

Good book, and even though it's a little dated in 2016, it covers the fundamentals pretty well. I recommend it if you want to get a good, basic understanding of what digital transformation is. I like that it discusses that there are multiple ways to transform your business, and gives you plenty of examples of the various paths. Well done.

This is the first truly comprehensive look at the history of the billion dollar concert ticketing industry, and should deservedly be the first go-to book for anybody ever doing work on the subject.I worked in the ticket industry for about 13 years, so I've seen most of the changes the author describes. Stub Hub, the now-ubiqutous ticket marketplace, used to call our office years ago and explain what a great idea they had about a national format - and we laughed, and laughed.Most importantly, though, the stories Budnick and Baron tell happened the way they tell it. I can speak to their credibility, at least as far as their stories on Stub Hub, Tickets Now, and other ticket brokers.No question they put in every bit of detail they could get their hands on. That is one of the flaws of the book, that they put in so much that it's sometimes difficult to tell what facts are most important, and where the reader's focus should really be. This book takes some work - it's not a beach read. You have to be prepared to pay attention, read things again, and then re-read. There is a lot of business discussion, and dollar figures, and other small details that require a lot of the reader's attention.A big flaw is the lack of specific ticket prices. Only a few times do the authors actually say what a concert costs, and since the entire book is on the notion that the public is getting 'scalped,' it's hard to see exactly HOW, without seeing the increase in price.I know that the Rolling Stones, for example, charged $60 for their best field seats for their 1997 tour - and $450 in 2005. Awful, right? But even though the Rolling Stones are a major part of the book, the authors never use any specific ticket prices - they talk about fan club prices, but not tickets. I wish the authors had used more specific price examples to both horrify and educate the reader about the much higher prices they are now paying. And, the impact of the Internet - where ticket broker prices suddenly became public knowledge - isn't highlighted quite well enough.But as far as what the author's include, it really shows how distant the idea of concerts has gotten from the "old days" when it was about the music. Now, concerts are just one more product that companies provide as a way to get a captive audience that they can then sell other products too. It will make a reader very cynical. The stories about the Grateful Dead's mail-order ticket system, and Pearl Jam's lawsuit (although they aren't the heroes they presented themselves to be) against Ticketmaster are among the most interesting, well-detailed sections.So, the book is very detailed and infomative, but often hard to follow and requires very close attention. But I can speak to the credibility of at least some of it, so I think the rest of it is equally accurate.

This book gives you a comprehensive history of the tickets industry and the authors have done great research But it is poorly written and very hard to read. The authors switch context and jump back and forth on the timelines frequently.

I've seen 1000 concerts and I'm only exaggerating a little. My first was AC/DC (sixth grade). This book is for everyone who wants to know why all the good seats are gone even if you're first in line, about how much artists are making when they play a big show, and how to fail in business by not recognizing who your customers really are. And Irv Azoff... easy to know but hard to define. A+[...]

It breaks down the origins of computerized ticketing from its very beginnings to where it's at today. The book examines the greed, corruption and blatant arrogance that takes place in the concert industry. From agents, promoters and even the artists themselves, this book leaves no stone unturned.Definitely worth the read.

But again, the prose is difficult and quite frankly not an easy read.I personally worked with some of the people mentioned, so I did find the some of the facts hard to believe, however, the bottom line is..this is just not that great a read. I was expecting more of an expose as opposed to a dull fact filled commentary on ticket sales.

I purchased this book to prepare for the CCM exam that I took today...and passed! I also took the online exams on the CCM website and reviewed all CCM articles. I also have experience in several areas of case management, that helped in my passing score. The content of this book on a 100% scale prepared me for about approximately 75% of the exam. However, I read the book two times and made notes. The other approximately 25% content of the exam was NOT in this book. I also noticed some of the content was somewhat confusing especially the areas regarding functional status, the assessments related to functional assements, and who is licensed to adminster these. Therfore, I would suggest this book along with other study material to prepare for the CCM exam and not depend on this as your sole resource.

I purchased 2 other study books from here (amazon), however the print was quite small and it was difficult to read the materials at night. I bought this book because of the reviews and found it much easier to read and absorb the info even with my 3 small children running around. This was exactly what I needed and I passed the CM certification the first time around. I found this helped me understand concepts that I really didn't focus on. It really brought everything together. I normally would not read a book like this cover-to-cover but I found it so easy to understand I really didn't mind reading this book. I will say the other books I mentioned earlier, included study questions... so... after reading this book i used those study questions to test my knowledge. Great Job. Thanks! Just passed the exam 12/30/2016!!!!

This is the only book you need. The CCM website lists so many books that it is confusing to know where to start. I passed the exam this April 2015 and this book was pertinent to the exam material. The book is easy to read and easy to memorize key facts. I thank Deanna for making this book so RN's like me could continue to work full time and not panic that I had to absorb a ton of material. Thank you, Deanna!!!!!

Passed the exam the first time this week, April, 2017. I only used this book and the CCM exam questions on Kindle for $9.99. I read the book from cover to cover and made 28 pages of notes. I also made my own questions. I studied on and off for 2 weeks and then power studied for 10 hours the day before, rewriting notes from the book. Don't just memorize the facts, study the meat of the facts and possible different scenarios. This is all you need!!!!2018 - I gave my friend this book, she forgot her test day, studied the book for two hours and passed.

I took the test today and passed. Know your terms read the whole book- if you have little knowledge on Rehab and concepts.... i saw lots of rehab and workers comp...concepts and terms - hit the stuff you are not too familiar with. Ohhhhhhh towards the end of this book, mentions Meningful Use- if you dont know it, get to know it! I saw it on the exam today 3 times—-! Thank you Deanna for making this book easy to read and understand...another tip - please dont spend you money on those practice exams ! Waste of money - I think mometric has this 9.00 kindle version you can buy - get it - get a feel of what the exam will be like....DONT waste your money on those 150.00- 300.00 $ practice test- Read this book from beginning to end and KNOW THE TERMS !!! They will be on the exam!

Passed CCM the first time! !!!!!!!This book is THE book! I read this book in a day and 3 hours crash course and passed. This is the only book you need especially if you have limited time to study. I had so many books to study from, but was unable to re-schedule my test as I intended so, I was forced to pick one book, and I am glad I chose this book! !!!!!

This is the only book you need. I had this book, another book, and flashcards. The other two items were by Mometrix and were almost useless. This book, along with the Facebook group that Deanna has to help...I passed my exam on the first try and felt very prepared. I can't give this book and Deanna's personal interaction enough credit!

I took my CCM exam on 12/5/17 and passed. This book is the only study guide/reference I used based off of recommendations from many people who took the test. It’s very well presented and easy to understand. Key word: understand. I only had a few days to study so I really tried to understand every concept presented. I wrote a few notes here and there and read back on topics I had a hard time understanding. I have experience in UR and inpatient case management; this also helped in understanding basic concepts. Deanna’s book covered a lot of topics that we normally don’t encounter in our daily work routine. I am very grateful to Deanna for coming up with an easy to understand but covers pretty much everything we need to know in case management. Highly recommended!
