Relates well with practical advice from the Arbinger InstituteThe Anatomy of Peace (BK Life (Hardcover)), Covey Spiritual Roots of Human Relations, and even CS Lewis' non-fiction works Mere Christianity (C.S. Lewis Signature Classics).Reading and pondering helped me to understand better the Atonement, unconditional love, patience, charity, and other Christlike attributes, as well as hope in a loving, caring, and successful Heavenly Father. Worth rereading and definitely quotable for talks, parenting, and personal inspiration.
This book gives hope. Obviously, LDS (Mormon) members will understand the concepts mostly; however, I believe a lot of individuals in the world can benefit from this book. Many, including myself, don't full understand Gods Plan of Salvation for all humankind but many believe that they will not "make it" back to God after this life of probation. This book helps to give understanding to some of the scriptures and teaching of Christ regarding the Plan of Salvation. It's a short read and easy to understand. The concepts are not too deep, in my opinion, but you should have a general understanding of the Plan of Salvation before diving into it.
I really like this author.I’ve read this book twice, so clearly, I loved what he had to say. I enjoy his style of writing; he presents his ideas clearly and succinctly.I highly recommend.
Not sure the coverage of this topic was quite worth a full book, smaller size, larger print, it felt stretched. An article in a journal would have been more fitting. There were a few things that made me smile, like all his personal examples showed Alonzo in a bright light and the contrasting people in utter darkness (fellow high priests, in a ward he was visiting of course, a missionary companion, a fellow Christian) his examples turned me off, as you don't make a point by putting others down to raise yourself up.He quotes McConkie too much, yes, I've read everything Bruce wrote, some twice, but he had a lot of dogmatic opinions. I literally laughed out loud when he quoted Bruce's son Joseph from "personal correspondence" to make a point - I was like seriously, just because Joseph said it, it must be true - not the best way to support a point you're trying to make.The redeeming factor of the book, was the few quotes that most members of the church don't come across or know about, so from that perspective, I like the quotes, which have been around a long time!!Brett Folkman, Doctor of Ministry

Odds Are, You're Going to Be Exalted: Evidence That the Plan of Salvation WorksThis nice book reads well and offers hope and encouragement to a subject misunderstood by many. While the author does not have all the answers, who does, there is enough here to assuage most fears experienced by those who still think of God as an angry vengeful being who seeks to damn his children or perhaps is a being who cannot save his own children because he is incapable or disinterested or runs out of time. I was impressed by the thoughtfulness and kindness of the author in dealing with a topic that can easily go down many wrong roads.Thanks AndrewDr. S. Brett Savage
