If you like the Strong's Concordance, then this could be a useful supplement. I wanted something compact that I could carry with me when I travel [I don't care very much for the electronic concordances that I have tried in the past]. I purchased this to use when I simply want to look up a Bible verse...and that is the key in determining whether or not you will like this: it is only a reference tool for finding Bible verses; its compact size is due in large part to the fact that the Hebrew and Greek Dictionaries have been eliminated from the volume. The only reason that I rate this at four stars instead of five is because it also eliminates a number of words that the editors feel the reader 'is not likely to use in searching'; I can understand not listing words like 'a, am, an, be, do, in, is, it', etc.; however, I think that too many significant words have been excluded, such as 'fathers, children, hand, hundred' and so on. However, even with these shortcomings, this volume is still both useful and convenient.

This little compact concordance boasts over 40,000 entries... which is both a plus and a minus. To give you a frame of reference, stack two VHS tapes, and that is almost exactly the size of this concordance. It is a little "thick," but it is paperback, so it is light. The definite "downside" is that in order to squeeze so many entries into such a small package... the font is amazingly small. So small in fact, that I printed out Gen. 1:1 on MS Word, and matched it to the font size in the concordance. The font size of this little concordance is 4.5 font!If you want to get some perspective on how small 4.5 is, do like I did, and copy Gen. 1:1 into your your Word Processor. Highlight the verse, then manually change the font to 4.5, then print the page. You will now see what you have to look forward to with this concordance.The font is so small that I have to take my glasses off (bifocals or reading glasses), and look at the page close-up. Nevertheless, I am okay with this when I am studying at home, since I often read without my glasses anyway. Furthermore, I ordered an additional concordance (also paperback) along with this one. It is the Strong's Handi-Reference Concordance (AMG Handi-Reference Series). Both books were "Used- Very Good" condition. I paid $.99 for the Nelson's, and $1.89 for the AMG. I will use the 4.5 font Nelson's at home, and take the AMG with me to Church.The AMG has approximately a 6.5 size font, which is almost 50% larger than the Nelson's. That is still small, but it is a lot easier on the eyes. I can read it without straining, and without having to remove my glasses. The AMG is slightly thinner, and slightly wider/taller.As I said, I got both very cheap, so I am happy with both. But if I had it to do all over, I would only purchase the AMG. It is amazing how much difference such a few points in font size can make.Additional Note: Both of these concordances are NOT exhaustive. Exhaustive (for those who don't know) means that the concordance lists every single Biblical occurrence of the word. As I stated at another review:"I am unsure how the editors choose which verses to include/omit, but the strength of a "Handi-Reference" concordance is that it is used for quick references (at Church, work, a Bible study, etc.), where you may be drawing a blank on a common or popular verse... but you can not remember where you read it. It is also helpful for people who need something a lot more in-depth than the concordance in the back of the average Bible... which, by the way, is also NOT exhaustive."

Compact, meaning it doesn't have "dictionaries" and other reference matter: just the way to find the major words in the verses of the bible. As it turns out, some of the references don't exist in all versions of the bible, which is interesting.

I love the fact that there is a compact version, I dont like relying on getting out my phone in church so this is great to have the option to pull out a smaller concordance. FYI the words are REALLY small

I use this concordance in my prison ministry. The ladies often ask a bunch of questions and I use this to guide them back to Scripture. Buyer beware: the font is TINY as it says. 5 point font is small. If you have poor vision, do not go for this no matter how compact.

This New Strong's Compact Concordance is excellent for my King James Version Bible. I find this Strong's Concordance to be very reliable since there is no corrupt Hebrew or Greek definitions.

Husband is doing a lot of Bible studying and he loves this. Wanted the paperback edition and says this is perfect.

I have read all of Ms. Neeley's book, and it is amazing how she brings her characters to life. You have no other choice but to love them. Orglo , is the last of his kind, he is exiled on a planet, but he needs a host to survive. Without a host he will die.Chloe is loner and has felt unloved or unwanted since she was a child. She has learned to fight Her own battles until her spaceship breaks down only to land on the same planet Orglo is on. Only instead of Orglo she befriends a cat.Will Orglo finally find his host? Will Chloe reject him? Who is Cat? You really need to read this short story and find out what happens. I highly recommend it.Warning: This is intended for mature audiences.

This extremely short story had so much potential to be so much more. This could have so easily have been a four or even a five star read if it had been a full book instead of such a short story. Such an intriguing concept. Unfortunately, since it was so short, there was no time to flesh out the characters so we could get to know them and feel some emotion for and about them. So, for what it was, I consider it a 3.1 star = awful! want my money back!2 stars = bad but not horrendous3 stars = decent/good4 stars = really good! will probably read again.5 stars = excellent! definitely recommend and will definitely read again!

*WARNING* contains explicit adult scenesI first came across this little story in an anthology and was delighted to find it had become it's own little thing. I can't see much of a change in the two, however I still like Orglo very much. Just imagine that sort a parasite attaching to you. I know I'd be up for it! This little story is creatively delightful.

A pretty good sci-fi type short story about making choices. I like Sandra Neeley for the simplicity of her characters and the way she quickly gets to the point of the story. This was especially good because it was short while being entertaining and still making you think. Would I? Could I make the same decision? Great story!

It's a great short story, very well written. Both characters are quickly, but well developed.Excellent, sweet romance read that made my day, and I'm going to place on my "must read again" collection.Awesome to take your mind off everyday matters.It's made me curious about other books from the author.

Chloe is alone, lonely, landing on an abandoned space station to repair her ship. She does find a bit of company - a cat...and so much more.I like this. It’s an interesting concept. I can understand the fear generated by a being that seems to be parasitic. Both Orlgo and Chloe are alone and needing something the other can provide. The telling of their story is delightful and I really didn’t want it to end so soon!

I liked the story a lot, the only thing negative was it's short. I am not a fan of books that are less than 100 Page's however I am a fan of this author's writing so I gave this book a chance which I'm happy I did I would recommend 👍

Very good short story. I’ve read many of Sandra Neeley’s other novels and loved them, so I know this short story would have been a great full length book in her capable hands. Fast and sweet read.

In the history of American sports, no coach has been mythologized as much as the Green Bay Packers' Vince Lombardi (who has been immortalized with, among other tributes, a rest station on the New Jersey Turnpike). Yet this fine biography from a Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter for the Washington Post is a blast of cool air among the usually overheated roster of sports biographies. From Lombardi's formative years as a player and coach at Fordham University through assistantships with West Point and the Giants and, finally, to his tenure as head coach of the Packers, Maraniss presents a portrait of a complicated human being who was a great teacher but a mediocre listener, an effective psychologist despite being rife with flaws. Though he often got hurt as a college athlete, Lombardi, as a coach, scorned players who couldn't withstand injury. His relationship with his wife and children was less than ideal. But Maraniss doesn't succumb to any reductive assessments of Lombardi as "tragic" or "heroic." As legend suggests, Lombardi was indeed a great motivator, but his success also derived from a cerebral approach to the game. The book's true punch comes from its myriad subplots: a hero from one small town (early 20th-century Brooklyn) revitalizing another in the Upper Midwest, or professional football and Lombardi coming into their own at roughly the same time. Maraniss spends far too much time on people and events whose influence on Lombardi isn't made apparent, and he relies too much on other sportswriters' descriptions of games. Probably one of the best sports biographies ever written. It helps if you're (1) a Packers fans (2) old enough to have lived during that golden era of winning football and you realized that Lombardi coached teams to attack an opponent's strength, not its weaknesses, to achieve victory. That's why the Patriots are among also-rans when it comes to the discussion of winning football.

One of the five or so books with the most character in my library. I loved the background of Coach Lombardi's life. I did not know his involvement in the US Military Academy football coaching staff or the history of college football, pro football and televised football centering around New York. The history of Green Bay was also interesting and why he took the job there. The book itself is beautifully printed and a joy to read.

This biography is one of the most compelling that I have ever read. The story of Lombardi, going from Brooklyn to Fordham to Army and then to Green Bay and finally Washington, is a story of a man and his will to excel.The moribund state which the Packers franchise was in the late 1950's is shown in complete detail. Lombardi brought the will and passion to win into that team and they have been a standard of excellence ever since. The dedication that Lombardi expected from his players and himself is something that all can try to emulate.However, Maraniss also gives us the human cost of Lombardi's success on the field. He paid a heavy cost to become the man the myth and the legend. He fought constantly with his wife, and he did not get to know his son. That is a tragedy that seems to flow from his drive to greatness. He was inward, and unwilling to confide in almost anything, yet he was also an iconoclast in the 1960's. For all the talk that the 1960's were the decade of the 'me' generation, Lombardi stands as the call to a prior time. A man who understood that nothing great can come from a lack of hard work. That the fruit of victory is sown in the garden of sweat and tears. That monetary gain is only one aspect of a happy life. And indeed he lives on as a symbol of greatness that we all hope to emulate, if we can bear the burden and pay the cost.

I'm half way through the book. I've always been a Packer fan and have admired the man, the coach, the values he held, the extraordinary ability to inspire, the lessons he learned through life through those coaches with whom he worked and how he imparted these lessons to others. Of particular interest to me is how he could be so tough with his players, being demanding but still recognizing the importance of bringing out the best in eacn player and having the results speak for themselves. Many years ago, he was the guest speaker when Henry Jordan was named the "Man of the Year" for the Peninsula Sports Club in Newport News, VA. I had the wonderful experience of being there for that occasion. Whereas Jordan used to say that his coach treats "us all just alike- like dogs", this apparently was not true in that Coach Lombardi was a master in using his psychological gifts in handling all of his players and the results speak to that. His own players have been of a single accord through the years in their praise of the man and how he guided and influenced them all. It is doubtful that anyone will ever be able to surpass him as a coach and as a human being in the eyes of his fans and former players.

Tremendous book about possibly the biggest influence on the game of football at a time when College football was king. Vince Lombardi exemplifies so much about not only the game of football in the infancy of the NFL, he was a man that transcended football and had a leadership style that many in the Corporate World of the Greatest Nation in the World embraced.I was too young to witness the legend of Vince Lombardi, I was born in 1967. His influence and leadership is something that is of a bygone era as many players today are pampered and spoiled in the Sports world. I cannot imagine what Mr Lombardi would think about this era of pampered stars that seem to have more power and sway than their coaches now. Players today wilt at leadership, you need to go no farther than the Jim Harbaugh at San Francisco to see what I mean.As a country we need leadership like this and football needs someone like Vince Lombardi, I greatly appreciate reading this book and trying to appreciate what he meant to a sport that would be unrecognizable to so many of the pioneers that made it what it is today.

This is definitely one of the best biographies I have ever read. I knew little of Vince Lombardi before going in other than he was an exceptional coach and motivator. My interest in the NFL and desire to learn about the game lead me to this book and I can honestly say I got more than I bargained for with it.Not only is there great insight into the game at a time when the NFL was being formed but you also get a good feel for how Lombardi was such a great innovative coach and leader. Interviews relayed throughout the book from these players back up how this Lombardi attitude made them better players and people.As far as the writing style, it was great and the easy flow and attention to detail that was used just heightened the read all that much more.I recommend this book to any Football or biography fan as well as to anyone who enjoys reading about someone who made a difference. Sorely lacking in detail, including local roads or road names. Useless for my purposes (exploring the north georgia mountains). A much better product is the National Geographic Trails Illustrated Map series. The only use I can see for the DeLorme is for cross-state trips using nothing but main roads.

I've used Delorme atlases for years, and just got the latest TN and GA copies since my copies were 20+ years old. Both have the updates I was looking for, and the new TN atlas is fine. But the detail and resolution of the GA atlas is poor -- nothing like the other Delorme atlases I have. I'll keep it, since it's still better than Google Maps when my cell phone has no reception, but it sucks to not have a better option.I rate this as Delorme trading on their reputation to sell an inferior product.

I have numerous other DeLorme Atlases, Utah, Arizona, Florida...and they are all great products. The Georgia version is AWFUL. No detail, the majority of roads are unmarked; very poor execution. When compared to Florida's Atlas, this one looks like a kid drew it up. Don't bother with this one; maybe try Rand McNally or another company.

I got the sixth edition in 2016 and unlike some other reviewers I can not find anything wrong with it. Good resolution and good detail on the maps.Country roads are named as well as small lakes, rivers, streams and any other details that are in the legend.

Great tool for finding local roads and county borders that you would not otherwise see on an internet web search of the same area.The maps are very well organized and easy and quick to find even in a race style quick fashion. And I have bought around 20 over the years. Scale is too small, and printing is not sharp compared to their other gazetteers, meaning that details like contour lines are hard to read. Not a good effort. Very disappointed!

I've long used the Atlases and Gazetteers made by this company. This map simple wasn't of the same quality. It was very difficult to read (quite disappointing since many will use in the car) and the detail that was the whole reason for getting this maps in the first place simply wasn't there. I used to always get these maps for navigating backcountry roads but its simply not useful for this purpose anymore.

Have bought these atlases in years past before they reduced size, they were great. The new smaller versions are difficult to see details. Would not buy again!

As a grad student in optimization with a background in physics, I really enjoy the multi-disciplinary approach of this book. Connections between different fields are frequent throughout the book. However, I often am frustrated with the book's style. Often, something that needs further explanation or clarification does not receive it, and I am forced to "google" the explanation that should be there but isn't.

MacKay is the pioneer in the field of machine learning theory. I recommend it to people who have good physics sense and want to learn the basic idea of learning theory.

If someone looking for a different perspective, interesting and challenging, this is a book to read.

Good book on topic, well written.

This is a really good book. It serves as a good introduction to Information theory but it has enough depth and cover enough material be to interesting and insightful even to someone who has already studies the subject in depth. This book is fairly high level and though I found it very interesting and insightful it does not have enough practical information to be useful (on its own) for solving problems in information theory or writing learning algorithms.

A sense of humor and a wide-ranging yet clear presentation.

I used this for a course on Information Theory, and it was much better than Cover & Thomas because it provided more background and motivation for the material.

Coverage or detail? One may not be used to getting both. This book actually uses a detailed description of those questions "left for the reader" as a way to reinforce its pedagogy. I just love this book.

The book is not a bunch of technical garbage, the book is set up as if you were having a general conversation with Mr. Stewart, easy reading. Great book!

Success of any kind is built on a mastery of fundamentals.....as a result, successes of all kinds reflect their own special brand of simplicity.This book does an excellent job of conveying the "mastery of basics" thinking behind Toyota's success.It's an easy, enjoyable read and yet the lessons are powerful. I highly recommend it.

John Stewart has the operating experience to write an effective book on TPS. He spent almost two decades in the trenches at Toyota and fully understands what works and what does not. This is not some "How To" guide written by some B-school consultant trying to drum up business. A definite must-read for anyone in manufacturing today.

The key is to remain humble and not to become arrogant.3. Without standardization, there can be no kaizen, or continuous improvement;4. It is only by measuring ourselves to the ideal condition that we can understand what opportunity exists to improve the organization5. Having skills is important, but knowing when to use them is even more important.6. No problem discovered when stopping the line should wait longer than tomorrow morning to be fixed.New terms Japanese terms and concepts from the book:1. Genchi gembutsu is "go (to the site), see (find out the issue), and take action" and its application is taken very seriously at Toyota.2. Heijunka: The essence of what leveled production is working to achieve.3. Teashi: By observing the hands and feet of the workers, we can determine the general level of productivity in the operation4. Poka-yoke: When any poka-yoke device detects an error or abnormality, it will trigger either the machine or the entire production line to stop. Before the line or machine starts up again, the defect issue will have been resolved. In this manner, quality is built into the process to eliminate waste.5. Ringi sho process: The ringi is a problem-solving document which states the current situation and defines the need for capital expenditure. The ringi also includes a section where a payback calculation must be completed. In most instances of capital expenditure, investments with less than a twelve-month returns are managed easily approved.6. Three types of waste in manufacturing : Muda - waste, Muri - overburden/irrationality, Mura-variation.7.
