This was a wonderful book! The insights are pragmatic and actionable, and highly relevant in today’s complicated operating environment. What I found the most surprising, and why I so wholeheartedly recommend the book, is that the principles that Mr. Tellmann outlines quite often translate beyond the legal function, and into other corporate functions. Reading this book will offer great strategies for winning in the single most arena in which any executive must compete: Hiring, developing and retaining the right people.

Excellent book on how to build and manage a legal team from A to Z. All aspects of the practice are covered. It has a very detailed summary which help find what you are looking for. Could be more practical with more real life examples but definitively a must-read for all in-house counsels, what ever is their position in a corporation. Can help in-house counsels to achieve the position of general counsel.

Tellmann has written THE manual for building a legal team. I am not in the legal profession - my expertise is in leadership, culture, human behavior, communication, and management - And what I found so astounding is how interesting and spot on Tellmann’s ideas and writing are. While his advice is very particular to leading a legal team – I would make this required reading for anyone in a senior role in a legal function – it’s amazingly relevant for anybody leading any team anywhere. Tellmann nailed it with this book. What I found particularly remarkable was how interesting the book is to read. He’s a great writer, with a tremendous amount of experience, and solid/tested real world perspectives that reflect the whole picture of leading a legal team – not just the mechanics of it. I couldn’t recommend this book more highly.

This is a must-read for any GC or aspiring GC. Tellmann does a really good job of taking you through all the different strategies to build a great in-house legal team. Some are more obvious but many of the things he raises are really unique and powerful. GCs are not only legal leaders but also business leaders and Tellmann captures that and guides you through how to be both. There are a lot of books out there about legal management but haven't found one with this level of depth. It's also a fun and easy read which is even more rare in legal management books!

I just finished mindset for the second time and I want to say what a great book that Jackie Reardon has written. There are other great mental skills training coaches out there such as Dr. Jim Loehr, Dr. Robert Neff, Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi to name a few. The way Jackie have presented the information makes it very easy to understand and use. I have already started to incorporate the mindset process into my coaching. I will recommend it to all my students!

Mindset made me realize how unfriendly I was to myself and judgmental to others. It helped to change my behavior towards myself and others and gave practical tools to be more focussed. It helped me during sports and in life. The book is practical, confronting but also fun to read. A must read!

One 1955 photo captures longtime fashion icon C.Z. Guest poolside in typically modest mid-century swimming attire with her son and dogs. A 1964 spread for Town & Country pictures the deeply tanned "young matrons of Palm Beach" in day-glow floral Lilly Pulitzer dresses. In a 1968 picture, fellow photographer Lord Lichfield is shown on the Italian Riviera wearing groovy yellow pants and flanked by Pucci-clad Italian princesses. Aaron's caption notes that "a photographer's life without a wife" seems to agree with the young cousin to Queen Elizabeth. While much of Aarons' work is focused on "horsey" types, he also turns his lens on creative folks. A dashing Gore Vidal is pictured at his Italian villa, the late Gianni Versace is shown at work in his home on Lake Como and Wanda Horowitz, daughter of Arturo Toscanini, is photographed at her father's podium at La Scala opera house in Milan. This is easily the best book of Slim Aarons amazing photography. Contains several photos that never were published. Book is broken up into regional sections (NYC, LA, Italy, Palm Beach, Bahamas, etc) with legendary celebrities and socialites. Aarons was a master at getting the glamorous to look beautiful and classy (unlike the fake reality plastic stars of today) at amazing locales. I especially love his photos from the 1950s both in Hollywood and in the USA New England.

Magnificent photo journal of a grace and ease gone forever. Sad, lovely, touching, and still jaw-dropping. Get it -- you won't be sorry.

I thank the Author and NetGalley for allowing me the privilege of reading this book early and have preordered my own hardcover copy. This historical nonfiction book reads as easily as fiction. As a medical professional the title and blurb immediately interested me. The Royal Art of Poison reveals so much more than what I thought of as poison. The author delves into poison for murder, accidental poisoning, poison in medical treatments, poisons in daily skin care and poisons in clothing. Death by deplorable heath care, poor hygiene, putrid water and sewer systems. A must read book for anyone who loves history, mysteries, and medicine. Eleanor Herman is an excellent author and I look forward to reading more of her books.

HIlarious book in many ways. Whenever you hear someone talk about the good old days, you need to hand them this book. It isn't just about the many ways people found to poison rivals. The sheer dirtiness of life before the 1800's is appalling, and people are very quick to forget the infectious diseases that regularly killed people. I'd like to hand this book to the many idiots I come across when teaching pathophysiology and physiology, who refuse to get vaccinations! I'm so tired of arguing about the need for specific chemicals that will kill a chemical that will kill a chemical being (us) if we don't use it.Herman wrote pretty well, and I like the snide comments she made. Many people don't realize how prevalent certin heavy metals were both in constructing homes, use on daily materials and dishes, in medications that really did more harm. I can guarantee if someone asked me if I would like to live in the past, they'd get a big resounding "NO!" HOwever, if people do not read and understand science, and quit listening to the many unscientific idiots out there like our current president, we may end up in the Dark Ages again, sooner than we think!

Life at Versailles during the reign of King Louis XIV or in a Florentine palazzo during the Renaissance seems glamorous to our eyes, but if somehow we were transported back to such a place and time our senses would be assaulted by the brutal realities of filth, odors, and violence. Eleanor Herman, well known for her so-called "pop history" books (which are nonetheless as competently researched as many more highly rated but dryer works), provides an entertaining, if sometimes stomach-churning, look at the realities of life and death in some of the best known European palaces and castles.Herman begins with a survey of the many hazards of life for the medieval and early modern royal families and their courtiers, from filthy palaces reeking with human and animal waste, to cosmetics which gradually poisoned their users, and to medical care which often did far more harm than good. She then examines a gallery of notable Europeans who had nasty deaths, chronicling their sufferings, listing any contemporary conclusions as to the causes of their deaths, and then (most interestingly) giving modern medicine's best explanations for what really happened to them. The time period runs from roughly the High Middle Ages up to the early nineteenth century. A concluding section examines more modern cases of suspicious deaths, including the vast number of people who happened to run afoul of Vladimir Putin.Herman's sense of humor serves her and her readers well here. A subject which could have made for some grim reading is instead handled deftly, amusing without detracting from the tragic events she chronicles.

In addition to learning about what did and didn't happen in the palaces long, long ago, it was very interesting to see how medicine was practiced back then. So much nonsense, it was very enlightening to see. The author has great online videos describing sections of the books that are really funny and are a great introduction to the tone of the book.

As a vegetarian/sometimes vegan, I’m always nervous to buy cookbooks that aren’t specific to my dietary needs. I’m so glad I sprung for this one. The ingredients are easy to find and buy, and the recipes are all things I can make easily, even if I’m tired after a busy day at work. As a result, there are actually more recipes I’ll find useful in this cookbook than there are in many other cookbooks I own. I foresee this being one of my most-used cookbooks!

There are much better recipes online if you google it. I found these recipes generic and boring. I don't understand why people gave it 5 stars...

I haven't done a ton of the recipes in this book, but the ones I have done are absolutely quick and easy! I also LOVE that there are descriptions for each (ie, vegan, vegetarian, paleo, etc) as well as nutritional info!
